Dr. O'Loughlin is a Canada Research Chair in the Early Determinants of Adult Chronic Disease. Areas of expertise include population-based longitudinal cohort studies in youth and in particular, studies on the acquisition of tobacco use, school-based research, validation of methods to measure smoking, diet, obesity and physical activity in youth, and evaluation of public health interventions and policy. Her research in the past year has focused on data analysis and publication with respect to 2 longitudinal cohort investigations of children and adolescents (Nicotine Dependence in Teens (NDIT) cohort (n=1294), and the AdoQuest cohort (n=1800) as well as analysis of data from the PHORCAST project, a repeat national survey of all organizations in Canada that have a mandate for chronic disease prevention.
